Technology allows us to do things with electronic dance music that people never dreamed of before. The thing is you have to properly understand how to use this technology.
We just had a reader question come in, “How do I make a mashup using iMashup?” We’ll break it down for you nice and easy.
The first thing you need to do is let iMashup access all of your music. The program has to analyze the audio files to determine things like pitch and tempo.
Once that is done you can pick the first song you want to use in your mashup. iMashup will then give you a list of songs that are compatible harmonically with the track you selected.
If you’re not familiar with beat matching there is no need to worry because iMashup does it automatically. Although the program gets this right most of the time you also have the option to align the audio waves yourself to line up the downbeats perfectly.
After that you’re pretty much ready to go with your mashup. There are other tools you can use if you want to customize your mashup further such as adjusting the EQ or soloing tracks at specific moments.
When you’re finished with your mashup you can share it on Facebook or send it to yourself via email. If you want the highest quality audio file you’re going to have to export the final product to iTunes.
